Introduction to Sea Kayaking- $55- 3 hours

     What we cover:
Gear needed -
 Some stuff you use for safety, some for fun, find out the difference and what is really essential
Kayak Design - picking the boat that is best for you whether you are buying or rent them on vacation. Learn what to look for and how to not get a dud!
Stretching (on land and in your boat out on the water) a great way to warm up those muscles! Safety Procedures - how to properly fit your PFD, what precautions should you take, determining what conditions are appropriate for your skill level.  Communication methods on the water and what equipment should you have with you at all times?
How to chose proper kayak, paddle, pfd, and location/destination, as a new kayaker.

Strokes
- How to make the kayak go where you want! Tour (forward), reverse stroke, sweep stroke, reverse sweep, and draw strokes
Hip Snap/J- lean -Techniques on  how to use your body  to control your kayak and enhance speed and maneuverability - This really helps a lot!
Wet Exit- What happens if you fall in?  Learn how to safely exit your kayak in the event of capsize. 
This is learned on land and practiced on the water.

T-Rescue - How to get back in your kayak if you have capsized?  learn how to reenter your kayak in the event
of capsize or how to help someone else who capsized.  This is practiced with an instructor and other students
while out on the water.- OPTIONAL- you do not have to do this!
 


Women's Kayaking- $55  3-4 hours-
We cover what is in Introduction to Kayaking (above), but additionally will focus on issues that interest the group such as

Loading your kayak on your car
How to tie up a kayak on your car
How to carry your kayak alone

These classes are fun and each student can do as much as they like. If anything makes you uncomfortable (capsize/recovery) simply skip that part.  We are looking to teach you as much as possible and make sure you still have fun. Don't let anything intimidate you- we are very gentle/patient teachers.  All women's classes are taught by women!



Strokes/Boat Control-2 hours - $40
This class is designed for the advanced beginner to Intermediate Paddler.
Special techniques are covered for steering your kayak and making it go where YOU want it to go. 

Can you paddle against the wind? With the wind on your side?
Can you quickly get to another kayaker who might need assistance?
Can you keep your kayak on track in the currents/passes?
Can you deal effectively with motor boat traffic?


Capsize/Recovery- $40 2 hours
What happens if you end upside down in the water? 
Learn how to reenter your kayak thru one of the many kayak rescues
We cover solo and assisted re-entry in class. 
This class is taught in shallow waters, the instructor can stand in the water next to you if desired. Sometimes we teach this in a pool in Ft Myers in the winter

 


Eskimo Roll- $40- 2 hours

We will work on hip snap development, the H-rescue and the Bow rescue along with the elusive Roll
